NATURE :My Life as a Turkey
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, here’s something to think about. It’s the true story of writer and naturalist Joe Hutto (portrayed by Jeff Palmer) as he raises a family of turkey chicks. This film chronicles Hutto’s remarkable experience of imprinting wild turkey eggs and raising the hatchlings to adulthood. Deep in the wilds of Florida, Hutto spent each day out and about as a “wild turkey” with his family of chicks — until the day came when he had to let his children grow up and go off on their own. As it turned out, this was harder than he ever imagined. Hutto’s story also became a book,” Illumination in the Flatlands”. TV-PG

CNBC presents: The Race to Rebuild: America’s Infrastructure
From California to Minnesota and Pennsylvania, states nationwide are grappling with crumbling infrastructure…600,000 bridges in need of repair, one-third of America’s major roads in dire condition, thousands of miles of old fuel lines stressed to their limits and billions of dollars needed to shore up the nations levees. It’s a crisis sweeping the nation. Is there a solution? Or is this our future? The American Society of Civil Engineers has given our nation’s infrastructure a near failing grade of “D” overall. And, according to the Urban Land Institute, the U.S. needs to spend $2 trillion to rebuild roads, bridges and other critical pieces of public infrastructure that are reaching the end of their life spans, money that many believe just does not exist. This documentary reported by Correspondent Michelle Caruso-Cabrera, takes viewers inside the infrastructure problems at hand and asks experts and policy makers what it will take to put the nation back on track.

The film reveals new insights into what it means to be female in the male-dominated world of rock and roll, while exploring how those dynamics between the sexes have changed with time. The film is produced by Susan Wittenberg and Carol Stein with assistance from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. TV-PG

SECRETS OF THE DEAD: Deadliest Battle
This documentary provides a thorough account of the fierce, seven-month Battle of Stalingrad, a bloody WWII conflict between German and Russian troops that resulted in more than a million casualties. Included: archival footage; information gleaned from the Russian archives. Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941 was the largest troop offensive in military history. And the Battle of Stalingrad is arguably the deadliest single battle the world has ever seen. The eventual Russian victory has long been lauded as a shining example of Stalin's military genius. He is said to have baited the much more powerful and technologically advanced German army with a carefully executed withdrawal, then caught the Nazis unprepared in vicious city-block-by-city-block fighting that decimated the German forces. By the time the battle was over, more than one million lives had been lost and the course of the war permanently altered. But 70 years after the battle was fought, newly uncovered documents, survivor accounts and stunning archival footage are revealing a different picture. "Deadliest Battle" uncovers evidence that describes a forced retreat by the Russians, not a tactical one, in addition to much fiercer fighting in the countryside than previously thought. The battle not only changed the course of World War II, but established the Soviet Union as a superpower to be reckoned with in the long Cold War that lay ahead. More than a half-century later, the full impact of this horrific battle is revealed. TV-PG

BRAD MELTZER’S DECODED: Billy The Kid
Every now and then a researcher will discover a historical enigma, an unproven rumor, a story with a puzzling outcome. Such encounters are an irresistible challenge for Brad Meltzer, the best-selling author. He unraveled many of them thread-by-thread in his recent documentary series. But there are many more secrets that remain unsolved, and Meltzer will tackle some of the most compelling ones. Joining Brad are Buddy Levy, a professor and journalist who assumes there is always more than meets the eye; Christine McKinley, a mechanical engineer who believes only what can be proved; and Scott Rolle, a trial lawyer who is skeptical by nature. Together they will examine the clues, rumors and conspiracy theories behind story of Billy The Kid.
