Globe Trekker: Georgia & Armenia
Airing on KLCS, this documentary about Armenia and Georgia includes the Armenian capital, Yerevan; Gerhard Church; Lake Sevan; the Armenian Genocide Memorial. In Georgia: the capital, Tbilisi; the seaside resort Batumi; the village of Ushguli in the Caucasus Mountains. Georgia is the dividing line between Asia and Europe. The landscape is mountainous and rugged; the Greater and Lesser Caucasus Mountains lie in the north and south respectively. Largely agricultural, Georgia is famed for its wines. It has been a cultural melting pot for thousands of years and this is evident in Georgia's culture and food. As supposedly the first country to embrace Christianity, Armenia has the architecture to prove it. It is a country boasting 40,000 churches and monuments scattered throughout a picturesque landscape of snowy mountains, caves, and blankets of wildflowers.

How The Earth Was Made: America's Ice Age
This documentary asks why do we have ice ages and when is the next one due? Chart the progress of different ice ages through the history of our planet, from Snowball Earth hundreds of millions of years ago to the recent ice ages. As the Earth circles the sun, its orbit changes slightly and so does it angle of rotation. When the right wobble in our rotation combines with the right orbit, the Earth is, and will again be, plunged into an ice age--but maybe not for a few thousand years. Did you know our planet is 4.5 billion years old or that the oceans were formed by rainfall that lasted literally millions of years or that 700 million years ago, earth was completely covered by ice that was a mile thick with surface temperatures reaching minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit? With spectacular onsite location shooting and new discoveries from scientists, this film will have you on the edge of your seat and eating up geological knowledge about our planet’s formation

HBO Documentary Films: Homeless - The Motel Kids of Orange County
This documentary explores the world of children who reside in discounted motels within walking distance of Disneyland, living in limbo as their families struggle to survive in one of the wealthiest regions of America. The parents of motel kids are often hard workers who don't earn enough to own or rent homes. As a result, they continue to live week-to-week in motels, hoping against hope for an opportunity that might allow them to move up in the O.C. The toll of this lifestyle on their children is severe. Though the community tries to provide adequate education and food, the day-to-day lives of motel kids are often a numbing exercise in frustrating constraints and ever-diminishing expectations.

Modern Marvels: Hydraulics
As shown in this documentary, the machines that helped build our world have been powered by hydraulics, a compact system of valves, hoses, and pumps that transmits forces from point to point through fluid. This basic concept of powerful force transmission through fluid provides the drive for most machines today. From the ancient Roman mastery of the aqueduct to Universal Studios, a veritable hydraulic theme park, we see how hydraulics power industry, keep planes flying, and make that 3-point-turn a U-turn.
